The brand offers a wide range of memory foam and hybrid designs and the Nectar Premier Memory Foam Mattress that we’ve reviewed in detail here is currently Nectar’s most popular memory foam design. In terms of price and construction, the Premier is one of the brand’s mid-range mattresses, sitting above the entry-level Nectar Classic and below the Nectar Luxe and top-of-the-range Nectar Ultra.

Our testers trialled the Nectar Premier Memory Foam Mattress over the course of a month and liked how sumptuous and supportive it felt. The mattress has twice the amount of pressure-relieving memory foam in the top comfort layer (2” compared to the 1” in the Classic) which gives it a slightly taller profile of 13”. While we found that the Premier mattress provided good pressure relief and felt evenly balanced, we measured the sinkage to be a little above average due to that deeper top layer of memory foam.
Our main tester, who sleeps on her back and side, found it very comfortable and enjoyed the plush feel and cool-to-the-touch cover. She also really enjoyed having that extra inch of memory foam to sleep on as it provided good pressure relief for her hips and lower back. However, her partner is a stomach sleeper and although he found the Premier supportive and comfortable, he noted that due to his sleeping style he preferred the firmness of the Nectar Classic, which they had previously slept on. The cushioned top layer of the Premier was just a little too soft for his liking.
One aspect both parties agreed on was how well the Premier mattress does to minimise motion from side to side, which makes it an excellent choice for those sharing a bed, particularly with a restless partner.

The Nectar Premier Memory Foam mattress sits in the mid-range of the brand’s memory foam designs and at full price it’s an expensive bed. Nectar uses the term ‘total value’ for their MSRP and a queen-sized Premier Memory Foam is priced at $2,249. However, evergreen sales from the brand mean you won’t ever pay as much as that. Right now, Nectar has an up to 50% off spring sale, which brings a queen Premier Memory Foam down to a much more reasonable $949.
You can also purchase a reduced bedding bundle, which with a queen features a sheet set, two cooling pillows and a mattress protector for $199 (was $599). The price and inclusions in the bundle do depend on the size of mattress you buy, however.
It’s a slight price hike compared to the entry-level Nectar Classic Memory Foam Mattress, which currently costs $649 for a queen size (was $1,598). However, it’s much more affordable than the most luxurious offering in the brand’s memory foam range, the Nectar Ultra Memory Foam Mattress, which is currently priced at $1,799 for a queen (was $3,116).
While these excellent discounts don’t typically change much throughout the year (meaning any time is a great time to pick up a Nectar bed) it’s still definitely worth keeping an eye on our mattress sale guide and our round up of sales during big holidays such as the upcoming Memorial Day mattress sales in case the brand offers any flash discounts or deals.

We think Nectar mattresses are competitively priced and great quality. If you’re keen to explore alternative brands, take a look at the Casper One mattress, which is Caspar’s premium memory foam offering and currently costs $799 for a queen (MSRP $999) and is made up of three foam layers. Also take a look at the DreamCloud Memory Foam Mattress, which has a breathable cashmere blend cover, five foam layers and costs $799 (MSRP $1,598) for a queen size.

There are five layers in the Nectar Premier Memory Foam mattress in total (including top and bottom covers) and it’s one of the brand’s most popular designs. With a structure that we found both luxurious and supportive, our tester felt it is a contender for our best memory foam mattress guide.
At the top of the mattress is a cooling cover that is designed to wick away moisture and keep your temperature regulated while you sleep. The material is designed to be breathable and has a cool-to-touch cover that feels smooth and tactile. It is made from a poly-blend fabric with cooling polyethylene fibers and while it’s not removable, it has antimicrobial properties to keep things hygienic and can be spot cleaned if needed.
Beneath that is what sets the Premier apart from the Classic. A 2” layer of pressure-relieving memory foam to help support the body in the key pressure points such as the hips, shoulders and knees. This is an extra 1” cushioning compared to the Classic. Next is a 3” responsive support foam that offers dynamic support to help keep your spine aligned. A generous 8“ stablilizing foundation foam layer completes the mattress, which is designed to limit motion transfer from side to side, while a durable bottom cover with shift-resistant fabric keeps everything in place.
The entire mattress is also fiberglass-free and its foams are CertiPUR-US certified.

We trialled the Nectar Premier Memory Foam straight after testing the Nectar Classic, so it was easy to compare the firmness and comfort of the two. Just one week into testing the Premier, we were instantly impressed by the thick and luxurious-feeling structure.
We also immediately noticed that while both the Classic and Premier are rated medium-firm 6.5 by Nectar, we thought that the Premier has a softer feel overall, which is likely a result of that extra inch of pressure-relieving memory foam at the top of the mattress, which contours to the body.

After a month of sleeping on the Premier, our initial thoughts about the firmness and feel held true. We had two main testers for the Premier, but also asked a few others to have a try sleeping on the mattress and let us know their thoughts. We found that the shorter back sleepers were the testers who seemed to like the feel of the Nectar Premier the most. Meanwhile, our taller, stomach sleeping tester found it a little too soft, and prefered the firmer feel of the Classic.
Overall, our testers enjoyed sleeping on this mattress and noted that they felt evenly supported on their back, front and sides. Our main tester, who sleeps on her side and back, was impressed with how well the mattress accommodated her as she changed positions. She pointed out that while the cushioned top layer of the mattress means the mattress feels quite soft, the layers provide good support and her back felt nicely aligned when sleeping on her back. Her hips were nicely supported when she rolled to her side too. The mattress has a plush feel, which led to our front-sleeping tester noting that he preferred the firmer feel of the Classic.
To get a better understanding of the pressure relief here, we placed an 8kg weight in the centre of the mattress to simulate the feel of a person’s body. We measured the 3” of sinkage, which is an inch more than the average for a medium-firm mattress, but proves just how sumptuous the top of the mattress actually is. By comparison, we measured the pressure relief of the hybrid Emma Elite mattress at 1.5”, while the softer Zoma Memory Foam mattress has a sinkage of 3.5”.

NECTAR PREMIER MEMORY FOAM MATTRESS: Delivery and set-up
All Nectar memory foam mattresses come compressed, rolled up, vacuum packed in plastic and in a cardboard box. This makes them easy to haul up the stairs and unroll onto your bed frame – be it a wooden slatted bed or divan. Nectar offers white glove delivery for around $199, which means that the mattress arrives flat and can be carried up to your bedroom so it’s instantly ready to sleep on. The delivery team can dispose of your old mattress too, but you’ll need to confirm this up front when ordering.

When setting the mattress up at home, we noted that the sides do not have handles. At 13”, this is a lofty mattress and it was a two-person job to position it in place on the bed frame. If the sides had had handles, this would have made the process a lot easier.
We trialled the Nectar Premier Memory Foam mattress both in the Tom’s Guide testing lab and in a domestic setting. As with all memory foam mattresses, a little off-gassing is to be expected upon unravelling. When unwrapping the Nectar Premier our testers documented minimal off-gassing, and any factory smells that lingered had dissipated within minutes of opening.

We trialled a queen-size Nectar Premier Memory Foam Mattress over the course of a month. We tested it in all key areas, as per our mattress testing methodology, to rate its performance and assess it on motion isolation, edge support, and its ability to regulate sleepers’ temperature.
Motion transfer
There are five layers in this mattress including a base layer of foundational foam that has been included in the design to help minimise motion transfer from one side of the bed to another. Our testers were impressed with just how well they found themselves sleeping on this mattress without either being disturbed by any restlessness from the other partner, noting that there was limited movement transfer.
To get a better understanding of how well the mattress limits movement from side to side, we conducted a test using a 3kg weight and an empty wine glass. To simulate someone getting out of bed, we used the 3kg weight and dropped it from set distances away from the wine glass to see if the wine glass moved or toppled over.
When we dropped it 25” and 10” away, the glass stayed put. We also dropped it from 4” away to recreate the feel of someone changing sleeping position next to us and the wine glass still stood tall. The fact that the wine glass didn’t topple over when placed under pressure is testament to just how good the motion isolation is on this mattress. We’d rate it as similar to the results we had in the same tests during our Nectar Classic Memory Foam Mattress review.

Temperature regulation
Having trialled a range of mattresses over the years, we found that some materials are better at dispersing heat than others. Memory foam mattresses typically trap heat, and it is worth noting that we tested this mattress in the winter months, when room temperatures never topped 68°F (20°C). We used good quality cotton bed linen and a Simba Hybrid duvet to encourage breathability.
While it’s hard to say how this mattress will fare during sweltering summer months, when trialling it in the winter all our testers maintained a comfortable temperature. It’s also important to point out that Nectar has designed the Premier Memory Foam mattress with 60% more cooling fibers in its structure as compared to the Classic mattress. The Premier’s cool-to-touch cover felt soft and fresh underhand, and while it can’t be removed for cleaning, it does have an anti-microbial treatment to keep things hygienic.

Edge support
Good edge support is important in a mattress as it means you’ll feel secure when getting in and out of bed, and it increases the usable sleeping space, meaning that you can sleep right up to the sides without feeling like you’re going to fall out.

While the edge support on the Premier Memory Foam is decent, it’s not the best we’ve come across. We did find it sufficient enough to sit and pause on the side of the bed before getting in and out without it sagging. Our testers noted that the sides felt quite dense and while the cover puffed up a bit when they sat on the side, the actual foam layers remained fairly solid and stayed in place. Our testers also felt adequately supported when they slept right up against one side of the bed.
To further test the edge support we placed the 8kg weight up against the side and measured the sinkage at 3”, the same as it is in the middle. This illustrates just how evenly balanced the mattress is from the middle to the edges. If a very strong edge support is particularly important to you, we think it’s a good idea to go for a firmer mattress such as the Plank Firm mattress.

NECTAR PREMIER MEMORY FOAM MATTRESS: USER REVIEWS
Nectar highlights on its website that the Premier is the most popular memory foam mattress, and that it’s also the most awarded mattress in the US. At the time of writing, this mattress has an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars from over 6,200 reviews, with the majority of customers awarding it 5 stars. Among the many rave reviews include customers saying that it provides ‘the perfect level of comfort’ and that it has helped reduce their back pain.
There are also plenty of reviews on Nectar Sleep to browse through on the TrustPilot website. At the time of writing Nectar has been given an overall rating of 3.9 out of 5 stars. The 14,775 reviews, however, refer to a range of Nectar mattresses and are written about the brand in general and are not all solely related to the Premier Memory Foam mattress.
SHOULD YOU BUY THE NECTAR PREMIER MEMORY FOAM MATTRESS?
Does this mid-range memory foam mattress strike the perfect balance between comfort and support? We’d say yes. As Nectar’s most popular memory foam mattress, we think it’s reasonably priced and is mindfully designed to keep you comfortable.
We enjoyed sleeping on the Premier Memory Foam and while it’s aimed at all sleeping types, we think it’s best for side and back sleepers who would appreciate its particularly good pressure relief for the hips and lumbar area. While its tension isn’t as firm as the Nectar Classic, it does have double the pressure-relieving memory foam and this makes the mattress feel noticeably more luxurious and plush.
With 60% more cooling fibres, it is designed for improved temperature regulation, and we didn’t sleep hot on it. However, it’s worth noting again that we tested it during the cooler months and all foam beds can trap heat. If you do sleep hot and want a mattress specifically designed for cooling, you may also want to consider the Emma Hybrid 10” Cooling mattress. It features Emma’s Breezy Airgocell Foam that absorbs and releases body heat to help keep you cool.
Alternatively, for a 13” Nectar mattress with springs, the Nectar Premier Hybrid Mattress is another option worth looking at. It has the same features as the Nectar Premier Memory Foam mattress, with the addition of a layer of individually-wrapped coils.
Overall, we felt that the best aspect of the Premier Memory Foam mattress was how well it limits motion transfer without compromising on comfort. This makes it ideal for sharing with a restless partner. Plus, with the evergreen sale price, a 365-night sleep trial, a forever warranty and free shipping and returns, we think it offers great value for money.
Nectar Premier Memory Foam Mattress: Also consider
1. Emma Hybrid Cooling 10″ mattress
If you’re after a breathable mattress but don’t want an all-foam design, this is a great option. It has a 10-inch frame, pocket springs with 7 ergonomic zones for support and has both an Adaptive Emma Cover to wick away moisture and a layer of the brand’s Breezy Airgocell Foam. Right now, you can get 60% off the MSRP, bringing the price of a queen down to $539 (was $1,349).
2. Nectar Premier Hybrid Mattress
This mattress offers the same three layers of foam as the Nectar Premier Memory Foam, but features 8” of individually wrapped innerspring coils between the layer of responsive foam and the foundational foam, which helps to provide a supportive and breathable structure on which to sleep. A queen-size is currently priced at $1,099 (MSRP $2,330.)
If you’re looking for a really firm, all-foam mattress, the Plank Firm is an excellent choice. It’s double-sided, offering a firm and extra firm side and has exceptional edge support. We were also pleasantly surprised by how comfortable this mattress is, given its firmness. A queen is currently $999 (MSRP $1,332) and Plank also offers a wide range of sizes, including for RVs.
